Target Validation

Target validation demand an experimental demonstration that a molecular target is critically involved in the pathophysiology of a disease process, and that modulation of this target is likely to have a therapeutic effect. Researchers therefore analyze and compare each drug target to others based on their association with a specific disease and their ability to regulate physiological processes. The validation of a molecular target in vitro usually precedes the validation of the therapeutic concept in vivo; together these two validation processes define its clinical potential.
