PHENOS Overview
PHENOS founded in 2001, is a spin off Biotech Company from Hannover Medical School, Germany
PHENOS is a contract research organisation offering services and research expertise to pharmaceutical companies and academia.
PHENOS core expertise is the physiological and pathological analysis of mice and rat models. Using its long lasting experience in in-vivo models, Phenos provides its sophisticated expertise in three major areas
- Phenotypical analysis of genetic altered mice (e.g. knock-out animals)
- Preclinical in-vivo evaluation of new drug compounds
- Identification of new therapeutic strategies of approved drugs
PHENOS offers services in various stages of the drug discovery process:
- Target Identification
- Target Validation
- Lead Validation
- Preclinical Studies
PHENOS established disease models cover a wide range of the most important human disease areas e.g.:
- Cardiovascular Diseases
- Renal Diseases
- Metabolism
- Organ Transplantation
For target evaluation, PHENOS either uses genetically modified animals with
an established phenotype, or induces a defined animal model mimicking a human
disease.
Further procedures to identify pathological phenotypes are based on standardized
protocols and highly sophisticated tests in order to identify pathological changes
in animals. Beside these physiological tests in vivo a thorough histomorphologic
tissue analysis can be performed.
